Internship Program

Have you tried college, maybe even have a degree, but still you want more - more practical experience, more mentored training, more than just a job?

The Internship Program offers a flexible program structure that will allow interns to contribute to the mission of the organization while growing into their potential.

Christian Camping integrates spirituality and daily life in the context of new experiences and environments. The retreat or camp world creates for the guests a new framework to hear and respond to God's voice, to build healthy relationships with one another, and strengthen personal character.

By the same token, internships integrate education, spiritual formation, and practical work skills. Within the context of Christian Camping, interns experience the unique blend of organizational life and Christian community while keeping the path clear to the cross for the guests. Internships provide a holistic learning experience for the participant as well as fresh, helpful hands for assisting with camp work.

The Internship Program focuses on developing the whole person in Christ through spiritual formation, character development, relational skills, leadership capacity, and work-related talents. In addition, by creating a learning focus in everything we do, our ministry edge will sharpen and the mission-fulfillment will only increase.

Regardless of where God leads a Warm Beach Camp Intern to go in the future, our hope is that their experience here will have life-long impact.

Areas of Concentration

Interns participate in a core program of similar experiences as well as concentrating on specific fields of interest (areas of concentration). Interns select their area of field interest and most of their time is under the care of the manager of that area called the field supervisor. The Intern Coordinator oversees the core program and each intern’s involvement throughout the year.

Upon successful completion of the Internship Program, Interns will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation upon request. Job/ministry placement assistance may also be provided.

Our vision is to see Warm Beach Camp become a training and discipleship center by offering practical experience integrated with personal and spiritual growth. Regardless of where God leads a WBC Intern to go in the future, our hope is that their experience here will have life-long impact.

 

Core Experiences

Core experiences are for every intern regardless of their area of concentration.  Their internship supervisor will give priority to schedule Core experiences.

  • Weekly Bible study
  • Mentorship with a Christian leader
  • Cairn Series training program (Christian Camping industry training)
  • Leadership book or CD studies
  • Tour of another camp
  • Management meetings (cost center and master planning team meetings)
  • Christian Camp and Conference Association Sectional Conference
  • Board meeting(s)
  • Professional training workshop(s) – such as hiring, evaluating, supervision, conflict resolution, financial management
  • Cross-training into various aspects of camp operations
  • Intern retreat
  • Leadership interviews
  • Culminating project with assessment
  • End of year intern reflection paper/evaluation and exit interview

Compensation and Lodging

An intern’s pay rate will vary according to qualifications and the ministry season. When Interns are part of the Summer Staff or Winter Contract Staff, they are paid in accordance with those standard pay rates, during the rest of the year interns will receive the standard intern pay rate*.

  • Summer staff contracts from mid-June – late August range from $205-$245 per week.
  • Winter Contracts from Thanksgiving through the first week of January are $250 per week.
  • During the rest of the Intern year (non-Summer and non-Winter), Interns will receive $150 per week.

*College Graduate Internships:  Through a grant, we are able to offer amounts up to $333 per week to eligible interns.
