Facilitator in Training (FIT)

FITprogramThe FIT program is a leadership training experience for high school age campers entering their junior or senior year. Warm Beach Camp's Facilitator in Training program prepares young people to be challenge course facilitators and recreation staff in a Christian summer camp environment.

Experience Gained

  • Challenge course facilitator training
  • Lifeguard swims for up to 100 people at outdoor pools
  • Belay training, equipment care and set up/take down
  • Give safety talks, set up sequences
  • Assist with facilitation of climbing tower, high course, low course
  • Assist leading canoe sessions and teach swim lessons
  • Participate in Bible studies
  • Apprenticeship with experienced facilitator

Qualifications

  • Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent by June 1
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Love for Jesus, campers and the outdoors
  • Christian testimony and witness
  • Entering junior or senior year of high school
  • Be available for the majority, if not all of the 9 week program, June 21-August 25, 2012
  • Four recommendations

Program Directors: Joe Wiederhold, recreation director and Kurt von Pessler, asst. recreation director bring a combined 40 years of recreation and challenge course experience to the leadership of this program. Both have worked at several camps on the West Coast before coming to Warm Beach Camp.

Positions: Each season the facilitator in training program is limited to two individuals.

They bring a combined 40 years of recreation and challenge course experience to the leadership of this program. Both have worked at several camps on the West Coast before coming to Warm Beach Camp.
