Saturday Workshops
The following are workshops from 2012 event. Workshops for 2013 will be posted at a later time.
Gratitude is a God Honoring Attitude – presented by Judi Seegert
Hebrews 12:28-29 says, "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire." In this seminar, we will be looking at the important aspects of being thankful by using God's Word as our teacher. Having a spirit of thankfulness is not easy in the dark places of our lives. However, it can be done once we "shed light" on the reasons God calls us to be grateful in the first place. Come and share in this "God Honoring Attitude" called, "Gratitude".
Reducing “Distress” while Maximizing Good Stress: Making Stress Work for You – presented by Marlene Anderson
What is stress and why is it important to pay attention to it? What do I bring to my distress? What promises and assurances does God give me for meeting the stresses of life? We will explore these questions and learn how to create a personal plan of action to reduce distress in life.
Listening to God – presented by Donna Oiland
“Nothing touches our lives but it is God Himself. “
In Matthew 28:20, Jesus said, “I am with you always.” This is not a metaphor or a figure of speech. Throughout the Bible there are examples of how God spoke to his people. Was that a different God? Does He speak to us today? How do we become women who are intentionally looking for how God is speaking through the people in our lives, scripture, prayers, music, movies, nature, dreams, all through our day? In this workshop, we will discuss how we can experience God’s Presence and train our hearts and ears to hear His voice even in the most hectic times of our lives.
Identifications of Love – presented by Terry Thomas
We learn how to identify what love is and what it is not when we are children. Each of us learns from family, environment, friends, school, and that becomes our belief of what love is. Many of the ways we think we know what love is and how it identifies us are not the ways God defines love. Included in this seminar are ways in which we can learn and be set free by the truth of how God identifies love. The truth of love will positively affect all our relationships.
Parenting, a Modern Day Challenge – presented by Ed McDowell, Executive Director of Warm Beach Camp
Biblical wisdom coupled with personal experience with nine kids allow Ed McDowell to speak from the heart about our role as parents in today’s world. Discover how God has uniquely gifted women to speak into the lives of kids and grandkids.
FANtastic Grandparenting - presented by Lydia E. Harris, Author of Preparing My Heart for Grandparenting
It's a privilege to invest in the next generation by joining our grandkids' FAN Club. In this practical and inspiring seminar, you'll gain tips to become your grandchild's
Friend, Affirmer, Nurturer
Come receive ideas and handouts to strengthen relationships with grandkids, cheer them on, and nurture them in their faith.
Healing the Hurts in Our Lives – presented by Joanie Yonker
We’ve all been hurt in our lives…sometimes, over and over again. This workshop will give us some steps to help us work through the hurt and become stronger in our faith and our witness for Christ. (And yes, tears are one of the steps.) Hopefully, these steps will be real and authentic, not “pie in the sky,” ways to work through our pain.
Who Are You, God? – presented by Sylvia Miles
Some years ago, while sitting on the beach gazing at the majestic Olympic Mountains, a question from Psalm 46 formed in my heart, "If these mountains fall into the sea, Sylvia, will you still trust Me?" Challenged by God, I dug in to find out. Today I'll be sharing wonderful discoveries of the One I trust.
God’s Thin Places On Earth – presented by Nancy Nelson
Discover "thin places" where Heaven overlaps earth, grace abounds, and living water flows.
Presenting Jesus Outside the Box! - presented by Susan Rice
We all know sharing about Jesus is important, but do we get tripped up by "how"? Whether sharing with those who don't know Him, or encouraging those who do, using your own experiences and visuals can ease nervousness and hesitation. Assisted by her Standard Poodle, Jazzie Rice, Susan will relate fun stories and ideas that will help you develop your own style that God will use in helping others know Him!
