A Different Place for Different Needs

If you walk around the Warm Beach Camp (WBC) grounds during a specific week in the spring, there’s a good chance you’ll hear beautiful music pouring out of almost every meeting room. The Northwest Big Band takes over much of the main conference center grounds and floods the space with their sweet melodies during their time at WBC.

“It’s so peaceful here,” One of the group’s leaders, Kate Erb, said, “so our participants can focus on their music and their friendships with other musicians… they can be in reflection about what they enjoy in life.” Kate and her husband Barry praise the versatility of the facilities here, and how, as their camp has changed the accommodations WBC provides has changed with them.

The adult band camp is in their 7th year of partnering with WBC and has grown into two full big bands comprised of 17 members each and a handful of staff. The group uses five of the buildings on the main grounds between lodging, practicing their music, and performing their concert at the end of the week. Barry and Kate said, being here blows away other places they might use, like hotels or event centers, largely because of how the Warm Beach Camp infrastructure encourages community growth.

“In some of the lodging we have these beautiful common areas where people can gather when they’re not playing their music, and they can relax and talk to each other and share stories,” Kate said. Through the years the Northwest Big Band has grown to think of WBC as their camp, and credit the kind and welcoming nature of the staff along with the amazing facilities as why.

“We never really leave,” Kate said, “because we know we’re going to be coming back.”

He dedicated his life to humbly glorifying God, serving others, and diligently carrying out the work that was entrusted to him. Let us now revisit the impact that Gary has had on Warm Beach Camp (WBC). Gary Kocher was a volunteer youth leader in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free ...

Living at Peace

“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9 NLT God blesses us for doing the work of living at peace with ourselves and others. Peace reflects the character of God. A young woman named Skyler shared a video on the You Version Bible App on this verse. She likened the quality of peace as being one thing that shows us as being children of God. She went on to the ...

A Legacy of Prayer

I felt tears in my eyes when I learned that the Warm Beach Pony Club riders circle up and pray together before going into competition rounds. Unbeknownst to the Pony Clubbers and Meg Rudy, Assistant Horsemanship Director, that humble stance of prayer is a continuation of a legacy. For 15+ years, those of us who were part of the Warm Beach Vaulting team would do the same thing before running into a competition round. Praying at the entrance to the ...
