Alexander Cook, Black Diamond Intern

Hello! My name is Alexander and I am proud to be a part of the Black Diamond Camp Internship program!

I found myself at Camp back in 2019 as a summer staffer, it was then I got to meet all the wonderful staff and experience the beautiful campus. I served two more summers after my first, and now I find myself in the internship program!

Camp has really become a large part of my life, something the former me would never have expected. If there’s one thing I’ve learned while working at Black Diamond it’s God is in control and only He really knows the plan! I never planned to stay at Camp this long, but I’m glad I have. I’m blessed to be able to be a part of this ministry and its wonderful community, and I’m grateful that this is where God put me.

For me as a person it’s hard to really “give up” when it comes to plans and the future. It took me a LONG time to finally relax and let God be in control, but at the end of the day, only He can truly give us what we need! This mindset isn’t always easy, but sometimes we all need to step back, take a deep breath, and remember that God has us – always. Even God rested on the seventh day!

Ride of a Lifetime

“Don’t you want to retire so you can do all the things you’ve ever dreamed about?” It’s a question that I’ve been asked a lot. My answer, “I have gotten to do way more than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams these last 50 years in Christian Camping!” Little did we realize what was ahead when my husband, Stan, was finishing up his last trek of college education. We were lying on a blanket, soaking up the ...

The Barn Changed Me

Before the barn, I felt like I was missing something—like my purpose began and ended with being a mom and a wife. While those roles are sacred, I knew deep down there was more of me waiting to be found. I was searching for myself… learning how to honor my truth, how to listen to my own voice, and how to step into confidence in who I am. Then I found the barn. And slowly, quietly… it began to change ...
