Called & Transformed
When I was a kid, once a summer, Frank Cranston loaded up the church van with kids from Shoreline Free Methodist Church and drove us to Warm Beach Camp for Day Camp. Frank’s commitment each summer started my journey and love for camp ministry. Day Camp was influential in growing my faith and the counselors showed me how to be a follower of Jesus. I wanted to be a camp counselor when I grew up!
Day Camp, Horse Camp, Fall youth retreats, Family Camp. Counselor in Leadership Training, and Summer Staff at Warm Beach Camp all formed my calling and life’s purpose. At a Fall Retreat when I was 15, the Lord placed a calling on my heart to full-time ministry. After that, I began to pursue opportunities to serve Jesus wherever and whenever I could, which eventually led me back to Camp. I started working at Camp as a summer staffer in 2002, and I knew camp life was for me.
Since then, I have worked at or been a part of Camp for every summer following! I met my husband at Camp; he even proposed to me during a camp skit. We’re raising our four children at Camp. I have worked in just about every department at Camp and love the community life that comes with living and working at Camp.
God continues to use Camp to transform me and carry out my calling. In June (2024), more than 30 years after my first interaction with Camp, in the same room God called me to ministry, I was ordained as an Elder in the Free Methodist Church. Although I have left my camp counseling days behind, God continues to use Camp to transform me and my calling. My life is forever changed by the work and ministry of Warm Beach Camp!
