Grace for the day
I sat waiting to pull out onto the highway, and the line of cars was a far as the eye could see. I thought, “Wow! I’m going to be here awhile.” Then, after about 10 seconds, a car deliberately slowed down to let me pull in. I smiled and waved, grateful to the lady for letting me in.
She had shown me “grace.” Something she didn’t need to do. Something I didn’t deserve. Something I was very grateful for. I began to draw a new sense of direction from that one act of kindness. What would I do now, in light of that grace?
About a mile further on, I noticed a car waiting to pull out onto the highway. I slowed down deliberately and let him in. I smiled again.
God works in much the same way. He showed us grace when He came to earth. And He expects us to give grace away in the same way. The simple act of kindness shown to me “made my day.” And, it is in my power to pass that along to someone else.
