It’s Time to Tee-Up!

By Darrell Weiland, Warm Beach Camp Foundation Director

“FORE!” I yelled! My shot went left and into the woods, “OB” – out of bounds. Fortunately, we were playing best ball and I was confident that Phil could put it long and in the fairway – which he did!

That’s one of the benefits of playing in a tournament like the one we will be holding on Monday, September 22, 2008. This will be the second annual Kids 2 Camp Benefit Golf Tournament, and again it will be held at one of Washington State’s best golf courses – The Plateau Club in Sammamish.

Player check-in begins at 10 am through 11:45 am, and the driving range will be open (for those like me who are trying to find their swing!).

Between 11 and 11:30 am, we’ll have a putting contest. Remember the adage, “Drive for show, putt for dough!” After the putting contest, we’ll have a quick lunch.

At noon, players will go to their assigned starting hole for a “shotgun” start. We anticipate finishing the tournament by 5 pm, followed by a delicious dinner featuring awards for contests such as low team score, individual closest to the pin, individual long drive, etc. We’ll also have the opportunity to acquire some great items during our “silent auction.”

This is a great opportunity to not only enjoy the fun and fellowship of golfing with close (and new) friends, but also assist Warm Beach Camp in ministering to “at risk kids” who cannot afford to attend camp. We saw several hundred children and youth come to camp this summer because of the Kids 2 Camp scholarship program, and many of them made first time decisions to trust Christ as their Savior while at Camp. What a blessing!

Registration is $245.00 per person and includes lunch, two carts per foursome, eighteen holes of golf, dinner for you and your spouse, and best of all – the knowledge that a major portion of that fee will help bring kids to camp!

You still have time to sign up your favorite foursome as a team. If you don’t have a foursome, no problem! We will pair you up with some others who will need you! Not a great golfer? That’s OK! This is best ball and it encourages team effort and camaraderie. Don’t golf at all? Perhaps you could sponsor at team!

For more information call Norm Harshaw at (425) 232-3876 or go online to the tournament website. Come have a ball!

Preparing Leaders through Horsemanship

Warm Beach Horsemanship fosters a wide array of hopeful young riders each year. The WIT (Wrangler in Training) program is designed to develop horsemanship, schooling, and teaching skills in a ministry-based environment. Within a WIT’s time at Warm Beach, they sharpen and practice skills in horse handling, schooling horses with specific goals in mind, riding with a strong basic balanced position, and finding connection with the horse. Through the dynamics of a relationship between horse and rider, a greater understanding ...

Hold on Tight!

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT Have you ever been in a situation where someone told you to hold on tight? ...
