Life Lessons from the Saddle

Warm Beach Horsemanship’s Equine Professional Apprentice Program (EPA Program) in Stanwood, WA will be accepting applications next month (March) for its third session! The program’s objective is to provide young horsemen who aspire to be equine professionals, ample training and educational opportunities, along with varying experiences in the field.

The Warm Beach Horsemanship’s mission is, to provide transformational experiences of the love and truth of God through horses, riding, and horse-related activities. In keeping with this mission, apprentices in this program experience growth in many areas. From building their body of knowledge and self-confidence, to finding their voice as an instructor, and most importantly discovering their worth in Christ. It is so rewarding to see these young people discover new interests and strengths in their skill sets, try new things, and build relationships with others and God.

As an instructor, it is a profound privilege to mentor and follow participants through their spiritual walk. It is a blessing to share information, tools, and methodology with those who want to build their repertoire as they find their place in this industry. Seeing relationships build between peers, horse-and-rider pairings, and between individuals and God is truly rewarding.

I have watched a soft-spoken young lady find her projecting instructor voice when safety necessitated this skill. I have watched one apprentice find her place as a promising teacher, leading classes with confidence and grace. In the same summer, I witnessed another apprentice learn to communicate effectively and discover her aptitude for managing a productive and busy barn.

We know experience is paramount to success in any workplace. In the horse world, this is especially true. Warm Beach Horsemanship provides invaluable experience along with structured education and intentional spiritual mentoring, an undertaking that requires a great deal of reflection, prayer, and planning.
