Living at Peace

“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9 NLT

God blesses us for doing the work of living at peace with ourselves and others. Peace reflects the character of God.

A young woman named Skyler shared a video on the You Version Bible App on this verse. She likened the quality of peace as being one thing that shows us as being children of God. She went on to the practical comparison one often makes of a child in relationship to their parents. For example, “You must be Bob and Muriel’s son; I see their likeness in you.”

Her point is a good one. Living at peace identifies us with God. Being a peacemaker is God’s work. When it becomes our work, we become identified as God’s children. Working for peace is an unmistakable reflection of God’s character and will.

Living at peace is a real challenge because sin is disruptive in our world. Working for peace begins with being at peace within oneself. This peace from within can only be provided by God through the life-changing work of Jesus Christ and the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gives us peace with God because of his sacrifice for our sins. The Holy Spirit offers the ability to be at peace within oneself, even when there are things that we have not yet resolved in our lives. Scripture describes God’s peace as being beyond our understanding yet generously available to us

Quietly Faithful: Remembering Gary Kocher

Throughout Warm Beach Camp’s history, certain individuals have come along who perfectly encapsulate what it is to be a servant of Christ. Gary Kocher was one of those people. He dedicated his life to humbly glorifying God, serving others, and diligently carrying out the work that was entrusted to him. Let us now revisit the impact that Gary has had on Warm Beach Camp (WBC). Gary Kocher was a volunteer youth leader in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free ...

A Different Place for Different Needs

If you walk around the Warm Beach Camp (WBC) grounds during a specific week in the spring, there’s a good chance you’ll hear beautiful music pouring out of almost every meeting room. The Northwest Big Band takes over much of the main conference center grounds and floods the space with their sweet melodies during their time at WBC. “It’s so peaceful here,” One of the group’s leaders, Kate Erb, said, “so our participants can focus on their music and their ...

A Legacy of Prayer

I felt tears in my eyes when I learned that the Warm Beach Pony Club riders circle up and pray together before going into competition rounds. Unbeknownst to the Pony Clubbers and Meg Rudy, Assistant Horsemanship Director, that humble stance of prayer is a continuation of a legacy. For 15+ years, those of us who were part of the Warm Beach Vaulting team would do the same thing before running into a competition round. Praying at the entrance to the ...
