My Daughter’s Equine Experience
This summer, my daughter participated in the EPA (Equine Professional Apprentice) program at Warm Beach Horsemanship. Although she was younger than the other participants, she entered the program eager to learn and grow and put herself completely into the Summer. It turned out to be a season of personal development, filled with challenges and lessons—not only about horsemanship but also about herself and her relationship with God.
She discovered her capacity to tackle difficult tasks, even when she felt exhausted.
Learning occurred in various forms; it wasn’t confined to formal lessons or riding opportunities but was also found in completing chores, engaging in conversations, and building relationships. She realized she has a gift for teaching and sharing her passion for horses to the next generation. Along the way, she was blessed with friendships and she was able to deepen her connections with those around her. She received guidance from incredible instructors and coaches, who consistently cheered her on.
Moreover, she learned that God provides for us, especially when we feel stretched to our limits. Sometimes God shows up in significant ways, while other times He simply holds our hand, guiding us through each new challenge.
I jokingly refer to this as her “Horse Girl Summer,” and in many ways, it truly was. However, it was also a summer of challenges where leaning into Jesus was essential. And I am incredibly grateful for both of these pieces of her journey.
