New Event Coordinator, Susan Sansom!

Warm Beach Camp would like to introduce Susan Sansom, the new Event Coordinator!

Susan was born into a Navy family and routinely traveled before settling down in her parent’s home state of Ohio as a child. While in Ohio, she graduated with a degree in paralegal studies and met her husband. With a little one in tow, Susan and her husband moved to California and were enthralled by the diversity of the West Coast, sparking a wanderlust for travel and, eventually, their second child! After a while, a job transfer caused them to move again, this time to Arizona where they welcomed their third child, where they stayed only briefly before moving to the Pacific Northwest.

Susan has expansive work experience, ranging from working in the Ohio State Legislature, lobbying for cellphone and medical companies, and working for a defense contractor in logistical support and HR to owning a bakery and being a stay-at-home mom.

Since starting at Warm Beach Camp, Susan has loved the refreshing work environment. She explains, “I enjoy the authenticity of management here. They are actively living out their faith, and I appreciate the daily devotionals; they show the intentional investment in the spiritual development of the employees.”

Outside of work, Susan enjoys traveling and then recreating international dishes at home! She bakes, makes stained glass windows, and operates a small group that helps bring food sustainability to the local community. Susan said, “God has compelled my heart to help those struggling with hunger. Every other week, there is a potluck dinner to share in community over a delicious meal while simultaneously gathering food for the food banks.”

Welcome to the Warm Beach Camp team, Susan!

An Environment for Life Change

Sara, a weekly Horsemanship volunteer, found the Christ-centered environment of the Barn to be just what she needed. Below is her testimonial: “I moved to Warm Beach in December 2023, and by February, Horsemanship had already become the greatest blessing of my year and the highlight of my weeks. I came to ...

A Legacy of Faith: Michael Kanyid’s 40-Year Journey at Warm Beach Camp

There’s something special about the bonds that form at camp—a place where lives are shaped, hearts are opened, and faith takes root. For Michael Kanyid, his story at Warm Beach Camp is a powerful reminder of how moments can ripple through generations, changing not just one life, but many. It all started in 1983 when Michael was 17 years old. Michael grew up in a non-Christian home, and the idea of attending church or camp wasn’t something that was initially ...

The Words we Use

“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” Ephesians 4:29 NLT Early on in my role as Executive Director of Warm Beach Camp Ministries (nearly 30 years ago now), I would use foul language as a form of humor. At the time, I thought it quite clever to surprise people in a conversation with a “crass word zinger.” Often, it would ...
