Investing in the Environment

To be recognized as an environmentally sensitive organization, WBC will: Build strategic partnerships that will strengthen cooperation between Warm Beach Camp and other environmental stewardship organizations as well as concerned citizens in the community; Enrich the practice of environmental stewardship within the Port Susan Bay communities by linking the values of education, a healthy environment, and sustainable business and community life; Use environmentally sustainable practices to reduce human impact and enhance the natural beauty and diversity of the area. Investing in the Community

Many things combine to build this sense of community. The environment has to be right, as well as the program itself. And the staff must be knowledgeable and caring.Warm Beach Camp has all of these prerequisites: Exquisite natural environment, Quality programs, and A Christian staff dedicated to providing a terrific camping experience But even so, there's one more very important component needed to build community -- Excellent Facilities. Quality facilities are a crucial component of building a strong sense of ...

Investing in People

Where the world plugs into constant stilmulation, WBC offers a place to "unplug." Where the world struggles through "rush hour," WBC offers rest and renewal. Where the world focuses on results, WBC focuses on relationships between people and with God. When people experience these contrasts, something deep in their lives is called out, nurtured, and encouraged. When the beauty of nature in a place like Warm Beach Camp is combined with a message of hope, people respond. Project information A ...

Who Put a Nickel in You?

Many nickels later, he is still talking about the night in which his life was changed forever. It was a humid summer night and he was sitting on an old folding metal chair towards the back of the Program Center, as this was an easy escape if the preacher went on too long. That night, however, time seemed to stop. Thoughts of being first in line at the snack shack and playing tag with his friends seemed to disappear. Voices ...

Brandon’s Ticket

I asked him if he had worked for that money, and he said, "Yes, I did!" and he stood a little taller. He said, "I worked all year to save up this money to come to camp. I sure did a lot of yard work for this." He began counting out the coins and stacking them up; I suggested he keep the quarters and give me the nickels and dimes so his bag would be lighter. He counted out the ...

Prayer Moves the Hands of God

All through the years, people have poured out their hearts to God at camp. It is indeed, "holy ground." Some have been commissioned in prayer through the laying on of hands. Many have received healing for their lives as they gathered around the altar at the close of a meeting. The Prayer Chapel has been a special place for people to get away and quietly meet with their Maker. Many leave prayer requests in the Chapel's prayer box. The desire ...

A Little Piece of Heaven

Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree Program started in 1982 as a Christmastime ministry to the children of prisoners. In 1995, the program expanded to encourage churches to get these same children into summer camping experiences. Warm Beach Camp was being invited to participate, and we responded with a resounding yes, not knowing it would become one of the most profound youth ministry endeavors we had ever undertaken. I'll never forget the first bus full of Angel Tree campers pulling into the ...

No Child Left Behind

For years we have sent our children to Camp, with some parents paying all or part of the costs and the Church providing scholarship funds for those less fortunate. However, over the last several years, the number of families needing assistance has increased greatly. In response, Warm Beach Camp has graciously provided matching funds through their Kids 2 Camp program. This year, we have a greater challenge, and are linking arms with the Camp policy of "no child left behind." ...

Volunteer Center

The Volunteer Center is receiving much needed restrooms and laundry that will enable WBC to better support the volunteers that give so much to the ministry of the Camp. There is also a new deck added to the front of the restrooms & laundry that creates a welcoming community atmosphere. This project will be completed during the summer of 2008.

Mini Lodge & Mountain Cabin Upgrade

Work began in 2006 and we are almost finished! The cabins & minilodges received new roofs, paint, and windows. Mt. Cabins 1-3 have a connecting deck and new archways also grace the entry points of the whole village. The Mt. Cabins received new bunks & mattresses and new door locks. The final pieces of this project are to add porch entryways to cabins 7-9 and possibly new carpet in the lobbies of the minilodges. These facilities serve thousands of guests ...

Cedar Lodge Phases 1-3

These phases include new restrooms upstairs, remodeled and expanded Cedar Lodge Chapel, and a new and expanded kitchen downstairs. Funding is still being pursued and work is projected to commence in 2010. Guests are eagerly anticipating these new upgrades that will allow us to better serve the increasing numbers of guests at Warm Beach Camp.

Warm Beach Vaulters

Equestrian Vaulting is taking off at Warm Beach Camp. Since 2006, the program has developed into weekly lessons for over 40 kids as well as three competition teams. The team competes and performs exhibitions all over the Pacific Northwest and has finished well in the National Vaulting Championships held in Denver Colorado 2007. In support of the Vaulting program, we have finished construction on a small practice gym and purchased a third horse and vaulting surcingle. The next steps are ...

W-Bar-B Horsemanship

In addition to the Vaulting Program, work was completed to expand the parking and finish the snackshop. Twenty-four temporary indoor box stalls were erected over the winter to enable better care of the horses and reduced mud build-up in the winter pasture. Plans are being made to add draft horse stalls to the back of the indoor arena, build restrooms, expand the facility for a stock farm program, add false fronts on the buildings and landscape around Crum Pond. The ...

Palmer House, Volunteer Cottage

In addition to the Volunteer Center for meeting and laundry, we are in desparate need of housing for summer volunteers. Volunteer Camp Pastors and Nurses are needed every week to support the summer youth camps. Additionally, we turn away seasonal volunteers who need lodging. A lease lot cabin previously owned by the Palmer family is being upgraded to support volunteer lodging needs. Keep your eyes out for the Palmer House to be on-line the Summer of 2008.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Upgrade

During the Summer of 2007, we launched a project to raise the quality of treated wastewater outfall to a "Re-Use" standard for reintroduction into the environment. This critical project allows us to exceed Dept. of Ecology standards for wastewater treatment plant discharge and will relocate the discharge point from a small stream to directly into Port Susan Bay. Thus, the "re-use" water will more rapidly dilute into the saltwater even further away from any housing. Re-use water can also be ...

Mini-Golf Renovation

A new 9-hole minature golf course was installed last year along with a new golf shack that offers snacks & drinks as well as golf equipment. This spring and summer we will be including additional patio seating and other finishing touches.
