More Please!

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life." Psalms 139:23-24 NLT King David followed God for a long time. In Psalm 139 he writes about God’s inescapable knowledge of his whereabouts. The King reflects on God’s blessings and the way everyone is knit together by God in the most spectacular way. David also reflects on those ...

Learning to Take the Lead

Mercy stood quietly as the woman next to her burst into tears. She stayed centered and calm as the words tumbled out of Susan’s mouth. The unspoken fears about parenting that Susan had been struggling with made their way to the surface. It was a profound moment for her. A moment when those nagging feelings of dread, hurt, and fear expressed themselves in words for the first time. Through the tears, Mercy was her rock as she held this sacred ...

The Transformational Power of Riding

As we age, our inclination is to be safer. There is more at risk as we mature: employment that we need to show up for because we have monetary obligations (hard to do if you’re injured), families to care for, and obligations in our community. We take fewer risks with our time, our bodies, and our resources. This is why I am always so impressed and inspired by our riders who are pushing their boundaries by getting on the back ...

Connecting people to Jesus at Rainier Retreat Camp & Retreat Center

Warm Beach Camp Ministries partners with Crystal Mountain Ski Resort to make Rainier Camp & Retreat Center home for many of Crystal’s seasonal workers. Serving our Guests at Rainier Camp is a true call of God and a fantastic opportunity for Warm Beach Camp Ministries to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I can't lie, it's a challenge, as most of the guests on the mountain don't know Jesus. The difficulty lies in presenting the Gospel in a way ...

From Repentance to Refreshment

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. Acts of the Apostles 3:19-20 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/act.3.19-20.NLT Imagine coming into church one day, and one of the people who has been in a wheelchair for years has an encounter with God and is now able to walk. Permission to Rest is Granted

This morning, in my time with God by the morning fire, the message was simple and clear: You have been granted permission to rest. Yet, the real challenge for me, and perhaps you too, is to receive and take the rest that has been generously granted to you and me. Will you take a few minutes to reflect with me on what God has to say about different types of rest? Scripture • For the weary person carrying heavy burdens ...

Just a Hint of Heaven

In Mark 6:30, Jesus called His disciples to “come away and rest by yourselves.” It was an invitation to separate themselves from the work of the Kingdom, from the press of the crowds, and from daily cares. And best of all, they got to just be with Jesus. That’s what coming to Warm Beach Camp has felt like for me personally. It’s been an invitation to come away and spend time with Jesus. I have been attending family camps at ...

Words from the Heart

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Romans 10:10 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/rom.10.10.NLT The writer of the book of Romans is sharing words from his heart. He wants everyone to understand the way to be made right with God. He longs for everyone to be saved. Listen to what is being said: Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and ...

Living Honestly with God

Then one night the Lord appeared to Solomon and said, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from ...

Everywhere

Everywhere – from east to west – praise the name of the Lord. Psalms 113:2 There is a lot of talk today about what unites and divides us as people. From families to the massive global community, we don’t like division, yet we experience it. We like unity and community. It is a gift that brings joy, delight, and well-being to everyone within its reach everywhere. As a follower of Jesus Christ, the great unifier within families, communities, nations, and ...

This is Why We’re Here

On this particular Friday, twelve pairs of eyes looked down at Onyx and I from the arena grandstands. As I sat on Onyx’s sturdy frame, I looked back at the twelve campers. My mind flashed to Monday, the first day of camp. There was one camper who had been scared to get on her horse. However, after some reassurance and coaxing she had said she would try to ride. “I am so proud of you for pushing through your fear! ...
