Our words matter. The words we speak, tweet, message, write, and stream have an impact.
Step back and ask a simple question: “What do I want the effect of my words to be in this world?”
There is a great answer to that question: “Let our words be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
This answer greatly challenges us. We are addicted to the freedom of words. Unfortunately, there is a loss of personal responsibility. The result of reckless words can be hurt and division.
I invite you to a simple, but difficult, challenge of “letting everything we say be good and helpful” for the purpose of bringing encouragement to this world.
At Warm Beach Camp we recognize the significance of words and attitudes that lift people up. It is my hope that refreshing and encouraging words are shared with everyone who comes to Warm Beach Camp. Words can give life and hope.
By the way, this idea is not new with me. It comes from the very best source of all, the Bible: “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” - Ephesians 4:29 NLT
