Pursue God and Live Right

In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.

Isaiah 26:9 NLT

Be in pursuit of God every day. God’s ways are so much better than our ways. Seek to live right and do good by all those in your life.

Do not become arrogant in your own abilities, that is when things will begin to fall apart. There is no lasting value in being arrogant and proud. In the end, the people you care about the most are hurt and trampled on in selfish living.

Isaiah describes two cities in chapter 29:

  • A city of strength surrounded by God’s salvation. People in this city follow and worship God. This city is safe, growing and alive. There is peace for all who live here. People are concerned about the well-being of others. There is a clear understanding that God is leading and providing. Our opportunities and abundance come from God. People live in pursuit of God every day.
  • A city of arrogance has leaders who live and lead at the total expense of others. People are taken advantage of and abused. The poor and oppressed rise up, take over, and trample the city. This is not a safe place to live. God is not acknowledged in any way. In the end, this type of city collapses in its arrogance and defiance.

These two cities contrast the beauty of following God with the disaster of living in our own arrogance. Following God gives life in every way. People are lifted up, forgiven and restored. Love, hope and peace can be seen everywhere in people who are following God. Quality of life improves as God’s ways become our ways.

Encouragement: Keep pursuing God night and day. Choose to be a person surrounded by God’s wonderful salvation through Jesus Christ. Bring life to others by letting God live in and through you.

Prayer: Dear God, you know that everyone of us have represented being a city of arrogance. We have taken advantage of others. We are sorry for the times we have lived this way. You also know that we have received your salvation through your son Jesus Christ. Now we seek to be people who represent the strength of your salvation in this world. Thank you. We pursue you with a desire to live right and do good to everyone we meet. Please help us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

On That Day…

"And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord —his name alone will be worshiped."- Zechariah 14:9 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/zec.14.9.NLT All of us have those “on that day…” thoughts. “On that day…” represents a point of arrival in one’s journey. Perhaps it is individual or the work of a community, church, or nation. It can represent a milestone or a brief moment of deferred gratitude come to pass. The prophet Zechariah is ...

Enjoy Camp for a Day!

Stepping on the grounds of Warm Beach Camp feels like home. From alumni summer staff to guest group participants, Warm Beach has become a second home to our Partners in Ministry. Last May, at the Partners in Ministry Open House, I reconnected with my friend and fellow summer staff alumni I worked with 22 years ago. We shared a picnic lunch with our families and then watched our kids swim in the very pool that we swam in as campers ...
