Staff Alumni News

Justin Harris, on summer staff in ’00-’03, and Holly (Sweet) Harris, on summer staff in ’03, welcomed a baby girl, Bethany Morgan, on December 11, 2007. Justin is now an Electricians Mate in the U.S. Navy, and Holly works as a Bridal Consultant at David’s Bridal. Justin is stationed at Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville, Florida.

We received word of the home-going of Gary Collett. Gary was instrumental in helping Warm Beach Camp start a horse program in the early years of the Camp. Back then, the horse program consisted of three horses, and Gary and his co-workers would spend the summer walking in front and behind that string of three horses, giving trail rides all over the grounds. Later, he continued to help out from time to time, shoeing horses and helping with their care. Gary passed away on February 14, 2008, and was laid to rest in Hood River, Oregon.

Patrick Neill, on kitchen staff from ‘97 to ’01, and wife, Katharine, are delighted with the arrival of their third child, Eliza Caroline, born March 14, 2008. She joins older sister, Zoe, age four, and brother Jamin, age two. The Neills live in Lynnwood, Washington. This is another grandchild for Joanie Yonker, Executive Assistant and her husband Mike. That brings the total to eight grandchildren!

If you have news regarding any of our former staff members, please drop us a line to let us know. We will share your news in The Sounder with all of our Staff Alumni. Mail it to the Camp’s address, and mark it “Staff Alumni News,” or e-mail it to Gary Kocher at the Camp.

When I was a teen and into my ...

Growing in Confidence

Warm Beach horsemanship strives to build confidence in riding students by encouraging regular hands-on practice, riding with independent aids, safe horse handling and effective communication skills. Students find a sense of ownership in the grooming and tacking process with their assigned horses in addition to time spent working with them in arena lessons. Warm Beach Pony Club members build on this foundation by learning more in-depth horse care and handling skills. In the month of October, two teams of Warm ...
