The Giver of Life and Light

“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

John 1:4-5 NLT

The Apostle John is letting us in on the truth of who Jesus is.

Reflection

Jesus is the giver of life. There is no one else that can make this claim because it simply is not true. There is only one giver of life.

Jesus is the giver of life to everything that was created. As the Son of God, Jesus was present when all forms of life were created. He gave life to all of them.

The life of Jesus brought light to everyone. Just as Jesus gave light to everyone at the beginning of time, he continues to be the giver of light today through his life.

The light shines in the darkness. The presence of Jesus has been light since the beginning of time. Christ established light in the darkness. You might say his sheer presence radiates light. Christ willingly enters the darkness cultivated by sin, once again bringing light into the darkness (the beginning of a new creation).

Darkness can never extinguish the light of Christ. On the darkest day, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the life of Christ appeared to be extinguished. This turned out not to be true. Jesus rose from the grave, giving life and light to everyone.

Encouragement

Jesus is the giver of life and light. There is no force that will extinguish his life and light. This Christmas season, Christ invites all of us to dwell in his presence, celebrating his giving of life and light to all who will believe.

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for being the Son of God.

Thank you for helping with all of the creation.

Thank you for being the giver of life and light in the beginning.

Thank you for being the giver of life and light now.

Thank you! There is nothing that can take you out.

Your life and light are your gift to us.

In your name, Jesus, we pray,

Amen

The Barn Changed Me

Before the barn, I felt like I was missing something—like my purpose began and ended with being a mom and a wife. While those roles are sacred, I knew deep down there was more of me waiting to be found. I was searching for myself… learning how to honor my truth, how to listen to my own voice, and how to step into confidence in who I am. Then I found the barn. And slowly, quietly… it began to change ...

Celebrating the People Who Make Camp Possible

At Warm Beach Camp, gratitude isn’t just something we say—it’s something we live. Every season, every camper story, and every moment of transformation is made possible through the faithful support of an incredible community. That’s why The Great Camp Thank You, previously known as Warm Beach Camp Ministries Open House, is such a meaningful tradition. It is our opportunity to pause, gather, and say from the bottom of our hearts: Thank you! On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Warm Beach Camp will ...

A Therapeutic Experience

Each summer, Warm Beach Camp has the privilege of welcoming teens and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to Camp SunSparrow to attend a week of Day Camp. During this time, they have fun, make friends, and gain new and impactful life skills and experiences. Amidst the busyness of the summer months, one activity that stands out is the thoughtfully coordinated horse encounter, which is brought by Warm Beach Horsemanship team members one afternoon a week. This activity has ...
