The Lord Will Help You
The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.
Exodus 14:14 NLT

“Slow down and let me help you with that.” Many a person has said something like this to a friend, family member, or co-worker. A person is getting worked up over something. Anxiety, fear, or a legitimate concern is creating stress. Often times, someone else can see a way to help. The first challenge is providing help is simply bringing a sense of calm to the situation.
When it comes to God, He is very clear: The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.
If I step back and ask, if anyone in the world could fight for me, my family, the people I work with, the ministry I lead, who would I choose? Put in that context, there is only one choice. I choose God.
Yet, even in choosing God, I find it easy to question and doubt God’s presence, willingness and ability to fight on my behalf for the wellbeing of my life. This is revealed in statements like “God where are you?” or “God, have you abandoned me here?”.
Here is the amazing thing about God: He works in and through our shortsightedness and doubt. He reveals more about who He is to us, and those around us, every time He fights for us.
We have a role to play in all of this: STAY CALM. This doesn’t sound like much, but it is a big deal. Staying calm gives us a frame of mind to observe, watch, trust and see God at work. We are better prepared to listen and respond to guidance and instruction. We can work in alignment with God, rather than getting in the way through our own frenzy.
Encouragement: The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.
Prayer: Dear God, even as I pray, I find myself distracted with all the efforts and assignments in front of me today. I so easily want to act in my own strength. Thank You for declaring with Your will and intent to fight for me today. May I stay calm as I watch You lead. May I respond to the guidance You give. I love You and trust in You as You fight for me today. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
