The Mission We are On Together

Providing Christ-centered environments, experiences, and resources that draw people of all ages to God through camping ministries, conferences and events (The stated mission of WBC).

Today’s devos begin a thoughtful reflection about the mission we are on together through Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center. God has established and called Warm Beach Camp to be His kingdom on earth in some specific ways that deserve reflection and shared understanding.

At the core of our mission are two words: Christ-centered. Everything we are about flows from the truth of who Jesus Christ is. Any attempts at ministry and relationships flow from a group of people who are following Jesus together. Jesus Christ is the center of our lives. He is the core of the ministry in every sense of the word.

From the very beginning to the very end, Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center is, and always will be, Christ-centered. How we live and serve others will reflect Christ in all we do. When we fall short of this, we will ask forgiveness and continue on being Christ-centered.

Being Christ-centered is a critical distinction in who WBC is. We live in a part of the country that is consistently considered among the least involved in the Christian faith. The Pacific Northwest holds good company with the Northeast in this regards.

Two things stand out to me:

  • Followers of Jesus need encouragement: People following Jesus are in a profound cultural minority in our region. Encouragement is needed. Rest, renewal, and discipleship are needed in increasing measure.
  • Everyone else needs Jesus: Everything we provide needs to be done in a way that draws people towards a consideration of who Jesus is. Hospitality, attentiveness, friendliness, beauty, cleanliness, tastiness, teaching, facilitating, educating, worship, hiking, etc… Everything and everyone draws people toward a consideration of Jesus.

Encouragement: Consider what it means to live out being Christ-centered in your life today. Enjoy His presence in your life today. Together, let’s live out the presence of Jesus as encouragement to those who already follow him. Together, let’s be a living invitation inviting everyone else to consider Jesus.

Prayer: Father God, you established Warm Beach Camp for your purposes. At the heart of it is making your son, Jesus Christ, known to the world. Help us in being Christ-centered in all that we do.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

The Delight of God

"No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love." -Psalms 147:11 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.147.11.NLT The Delight of God (spoiler alert: it’s you!) The writer of Psalms 147 makes three things clear: God provides for His created world. God responds to the needs of His children. He is not impressed by our own means of strength and power. There is one more thing God wants us to experience and know:  …the Lord’s delight ...
