Working in the Equine Professional Apprentice Program
This summer was the first year of the Equine Professional Apprentice (EPA) Program at Warm Beach Horsemanship. Coming from my experience as a WIT (Wrangler in Training) in the previous program, I was excited to become the same source of encouragement that I received from my Wranglers. I spent eight and a half weeks with the EPAs as their RA (Resident Assistant), it was an honor and a pleasure to be their guide and support them through growing in Christ and becoming familiar with leadership in a horsemanship environment. Starting our mornings with devotions allowed us to have fellowship and begin our day on the right track, it helped us settle our worries for the day and let Jesus take us where we needed to be headed. Though often still groggy, the girls always had something to comment on or add to our daily devotional. It was a privilege to be these girls’ mentor and friend throughout the summer. It inspired my faith and brought fulfillment into my life to see where God was stretching us to reach out to each other and those around us. The girls each grew in their own way, but it was most evident in their communication and newfound abilities to step into leadership with the students’ taking lessons.
