Your Safe Place

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.
Proverbs 18:10 NLT

Everyone is encouraged to have a safe place and person to go to in times of trouble and danger. It is a place you can get to when you need to. It is a person who has given you permission 24/7 to reach out to them. There is something comforting about knowing that we can always be with a person and stay at a place where we feel protected and secure from the harsh realities of life.

Proverbs 18:10 reminds us that there is no better safe place and person than God. His name is strong. He is able to guard and protect all who run to Him in times of trouble.

Reflection

The beginning of this verse reads “For the name of the Lord is a strong fortress…” By comparison, my name is not a strong fortress. At best, I can protect someone else from danger for a short period of time. With God, His name has power in spiritual warfare. His name gives pause to any enemy seeking to do harm. God’s authority can make the most brazen person step back before attacking.

For those following God, there is no better place to go. It is the strongest and safest place to be.

Encouragement

At the next sign of trouble, come to the Lord. He is your safe place. He is capable of caring for you and protecting you. It is good to have people and places ready for safety. Often times this is part of God’s provision and care. It is never a substitute for the strong name of God in whose care we trust.

Prayer

Dear Father God,
Thank You for being a “place of safety and a person of safety.” You are so much more than any person or physical space can offer. We know that You often provide people and places as part of Your protection and care. May we come to You anytime trouble comes.

In the strong name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

God Speaks through Rosie

I have recently been given the opportunity to work with Rosie, one of our newer horses that we are bringing along in training here at the Warm Beach Horsemanship barn. I am always excited to get to know a new horse and their personality. However, it didn’t take long to realize this sweet mare harbored a lot of anxiety and worry. I tried to coax her into calmness with gentleness and patience, but she still didn’t fully trust me. When ...
