2023-2024 Riding Lessons

Safe, professional horsemanship experience - one that will have life-long impact.

Strengthen riding skills while growing in your personal and spiritual life through English and Western riding lessons. Horses and horsemanship teaches an abundance of life lessons that builds maturity in participants as they gain physical coordination, balance, and core strength. Staff make every effort to provide a safe, professional horsemanship experience that will have life-long impact.

Lesson Highlights

  • All skill levels are welcome; ages 4 and up
  • Lessons include ground work, horse care, and safety instruction
  • Horses, tack and helmets provided by Warm Beach Camp
  • CHA certified site
  • Most riding lessons will occur in the riding arena with occasional “trail lessons” (taught at the discretion of the instructor)

Riders will learn:

Grooming, saddling, horse care

Basic horse control at a walk, trot, and canter

Basic equitation and proper use of the four natural aids (voice, hands, legs, weight)

How to recognize and ride on the correct diagonal, leads & much more!

Classes Offered:

Some levels may not be available every session. See Session Schedule section below for details.

Level 1 class8+ years old
Level 2 class*8+ years old
Level 3, 4 class*10+ years old
Adults18+ years old

English and Western styles or a combination of both is available.

*Must have passed previous CHA riding level test or be pre-approved by Horsemanship Director prior to registration

General guidelines:

  • Minimum age 4 years old at the time of first class of session.
  • Riders must not exceed weight of 200 lbs and need to be able to walk on their own.
  • Helmets and boots required. (Helmets provided by Warm Beach Camp; limited supply of boots are available.)

2024 Session Schedule

 

Winter Session: January 8 – February 17 | 6 weeks

Spring Session: March 8 – May 18 | 9 weeks | Registration closes on March 1st at 5:00pm

Summer Session: July 1 – August 10 | 6 weeks

Fall Session: September 20 – November 23 | 9 weeks

*Price varies by seasonal session. We are unable to offer make-up classes or refunds for days missed or cancelled.

Horsemanship Leadership

The staff are passionate for sharing the love of God through professional horsemanship instruction. They believe in the amazing ability of horses and horse related activities to nurture the potential in each person. The staff are active in one or more professional associations such as Certified Horsemanship Association, American Vaulting Association, United States Equestrian Federation, and United States Pony Club.

Lisa Tremain

Horsemanship Director

In 2016, Lisa began serving as the Warm Beach Horsemanship Director. Lisa grew up in New Zealand where she rode competitively in Eventing and Dressage. Lisa is certified through the United States Pony Club (USPC) and Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA); she was awarded the CHA Region 1 Instructor of the Year Award in 2021. Her priority is to teach students how to work in harmony with horses, communicating effectively to realize their joint potential. Lisa believes horses provide the perfect opportunity for riders to experience the hope and acceptance of God’s unconditional love and strives to cultivate an environment where this can be fostered.

Meg Rudy

Assistant Horsemanship Director

After 5 years devoted to service in equestrian summer camps, Meg is returning to her home in the great Pacific Northwest and joining the Warm Beach Horsemanship team as the new Assistant Horsemanship Director! She is delighted to be returning to her roots. With her background in the United States Pony Club and Young Riders (Area VII), she has also been certified with CHA as a Level 4 Instructor. She is dedicated to the unique ministry that exists in the space we share with horses and is looking forward to growing together in Christ.

  • Maximum 5 students per class.
  • 1.5 hours long sessions.
  • Prices include 9 lessons, once per week.
  • Expect 30 minutes to saddle/unsaddle your horse with riding time of 45-50 minutes with a short devotional.
    • Tiny Tots and Juniors class participants will not saddle/unsaddle horses. This will be done by staff.
  • Level 1B means students have taken previous Warm Beach Camp Level 1 lessons and know how to trot independently.
  • *Level 2 classes: Must have passed previous CHA riding level test or be pre-approved by Horsemanship Director prior to registration.

Note: If arriving 15 minutes late or more, rider may not be able to participate.
