We are Blessed

This August, several Warm Beach Camp staff returned from a two week ministry trip to the Republic of Korea. The theme for the camp the team cohosted was, “I am blessed.” The Holy Spirit knit the team together with Korean hosts. Lives were touched and children and youth came to faith in Christ. Camp in Korea is much like camp in the U.S. with the addition of English language learning lessons that are the main attraction for Korean families. Educational ...

Giving God praise and thanks…

“Warm Beach Camp is where my faith in Jesus became real,” said one summer staff, reflecting on her years as a camper and now staff. As various youth camp staff shared how they had grown closer to God this summer, a deep unity and sense of holy purpose came over the group. The staff shared about relationships, leadership opportunities, and a profound sense that God was living and working through them. Over the course of the summer, the staff ministered ...

Leave It at The Cross

All summer, young people and families attending camps at Warm Beach are leaving lies they have come to believe at the cross of Jesus Christ. Lies many of us begin to believe about ourselves and our families. After hearing the truth about their identity in Christ, campers are invited to leave lies at the cross. Some of the lies include: I am the problem, others would be better off if I wasn’t here. My parent left me because he/she does ...

Let everything you say be good and helpful

Our words matter. The words we speak, tweet, message, write, and stream have an impact. Step back and ask a simple question: “What do I want the effect of my words to be in this world?” There is a great answer to that question: “Let our words be an encouragement to those who hear them.” This answer greatly challenges us. We are addicted to the freedom of words. Unfortunately, there is a loss of personal responsibility. The result of reckless ...

The greatest kindness

If there was a contest for the greatest act of kindness, I wonder what the entries would be. Personally, the most meaningful is intentional thoughtfulness to help carry a load in life, or simply the surprise of unexpected generosity. Advocacy is an act of kindness. Things like, advocating for someone who is vulnerable or misunderstood, creating opportunity for someone who needs a fresh start, or simply giving someone a chance to develop and grow. To extend kindness, a spirit of ...

The power of camp is real

A summer camp week is an experience unlike any other, offering a lifetime of positive impact. Youth overnight camps at Warm Beach provide a safe and fun environment for youth to step away from everyday distractions and step into who they are in Christ. Perhaps the most valuable and unique element of summer camp at Warm Beach is the intentionality of the program and staff. Along with fun activities and recreation, campers are placed in a community where they are ...

There is a relationship that is always safe

“Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.” - Proverbs 29:25 NLT When the human spirit rises and falls on the approval and opinions of others, we are in a vulnerable position. The writer of Proverbs calls it a “dangerous trap.” People caught up in domestic violence are often trapped in a situation where they literally live in the fear of the abuser every moment of every day. It is a very dangerous situation. Sometimes individuals, ...

A lifetime impact in one week

There is not a single experience quite like a week at summer camp. I have experienced this as a camper and a staffer. I began my journey as a camper in the fifth grade. I was nervous, but excited to spend a week with a bunch of strangers away from home. My first summer could be summed up in the words “fun,” and “relationships.” It was the first time I really saw Christianity lived out in other people my age. ...

Calling young leaders

“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” - 1 Timothy 4:12 NLT Young leaders, please jump in and lead. You are needed and wanted in the ministry of Warm Beach Camp. Feel free to speak into my life, and the lives of staff and campers. Please address the issues of the day through ...

Learn to live in Love’s freedom

I lived in hiding for over a decade, presenting a façade to everyone I met. I was the loving, respectable, stay-home housewife. The honorable mother and godly Sunday school teacher. No one knew the shame, the secrets I carried. No one, that is, except God. He saw my deepest wounds and everything I tried so hard to hide. He knew me well before my husband pulled me off the streets of Tacoma. He saw the high school dropout who spent ...

Good start, go deeper and further…

We love good beginnings. They are filled with hope, optimism, and joy. Some of my favorite new beginnings are newfound love, babies, weddings, faith, and a new favorite place to go for rest and renewal. Warm Beach Camp is a place of new beginnings in faith, relationships, and personal growth. Life changing decisions are made that alter the direction of a life forever. New beginnings also serve as reminders to those who have been down the road a ways in ...

Doing good flows from a quality relationship with God

As the ministry of Warm Beach Camp takes shape for another year, there is an underlying conviction that the contribution to do good in this world flows from the quality of our relationship with God. In Psalm 139:23-24, King David declares the following: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” The leader of the nation ...

Grill the keynote speaker at Men’s Advance weekend

No man should miss this year’s Men’s Advance weekend, March 2-4, 2018, because you’ll get to see a live human getting grilled. And you thought the ropes course was going to be exciting! Actually, we plan to make our main sessions interactive as I, the keynote speaker, take live questions from the audience. Why would we do this? We found this approach scratches a real itch where men clearly need a forum to ask thoughtful and difficult questions about God, ...

Men’s Advance – a weekend to encourage men in life

Warm Beach Camp’s annual Men’s Advance weekend kicks off on Friday, March 2, 2018. A team of gifted ministry leaders from around the Pacific Northwest will share their stories of God’s strength and love through the gospel of Jesus Christ, and how He can change lives. One of the breakout session ...

Ways to keep God and His love the priority of our lives

In following God, there is a tension everyone deals with: Allowing the everyday pleasures and desires in the world to move us away from experiencing the love God has for us. This is a real challenge because the needs, opportunities, and demands of the world are a constant everyday reality. God often gets marginalized or eliminated in our time, thinking, and community. In the Bible the following is written in the book of 1 John 2:15-16: Do not love this ...

Christmas: Good News for Everyone

The good news of Jesus coming is for everyone. Everyone is invited. Everyone is included. It is meant to be shared in everything we do. The life He offers to everyone who believes in Him is nothing to be ashamed about. Quite the opposite. His good news is meant to flow through every aspect of our lives. Interaction with other people is meant to be filled with grace. When truth is shared, it is meant to be shared in love. ...
