Auction Recap

By Jeannie Patterson Grateful. This is the first word that comes to mind when I think about the Kids 2 Camp Benefit Day. Grateful for those who donated such fun and amazing items. Grateful for all the volunteers and staff who contributed time and energy to make this day happen. Grateful for generous bidders.  Most of all, grateful for a God who brings so many together to work and give for the sake of His Kingdom. It was a beautiful ...

“I Received a Scholarship”

Warm Beach Horsemanship offers Equestrian Vaulting instruction through camps, classes, and even a competitive club team. Equestrian Vaulting is essentially gymnastics and dance on a moving horse. Many who participate in vaulting instruction are horse enthusiasts but have never tried the sport. As you can imagine the first time sitting on a horse with no saddle and being asked to let go and stretch your arms to the side can be rather unnerving. Ginger Reitz, Assistant Horsemanship Director, describes the ...

Unconditional Love

“How can we challenge each other this week?” It was the first hour of camp and a group of girls sat in a circle listening to their counselor, “Oreo.” After some silence, one girl spoke up. “We can love each other.” Another chimed in, “Yeah, like Jesus loves us!” Seeing a teachable moment, Oreo asked, “What do you mean by that? How is Jesus’ love different?” The girls sat in thought. One of the girls said, “It’s unconditional.” Later that ...

Say It Out Loud

Tony sat with his cabin, listening intently. His counselor paced back and forth on the amphitheater stage, preaching salvation. “Becoming a Christian isn’t about saying magic words or getting your act together for Jesus,” he announced. “It’s about asking Him to save you from your sins.” Something dawned on Tony. Was that really all there was to it? He had tried being good before, but according to his counselor, saintly living wouldn’t save anyone. His counselor spoke again. “Jesus accepts ...

I Can’t Do This!

Susan Chin was screaming twenty-five feet off the ground. Below, the ropes course supervisor reminded her, “Sue, don’t worry! You’re safety line will hold you.” Susan looked at the cable and ropes stretched out into the air in front of her. She stepped out, her weight dancing on the tight cable. Susan wobbled precariously, put out her other foot and slipped off the line! “Oh!” she gasped. She hadn’t moved! Her feet dangled in the air, but her harness held ...

Reflections from a Summer Camp Counselor

I tried to bring out a conversation about God from the one currently focused on space travel, expecting the campers to not be able to contribute much.  Instantly, the little girl picked up and almost with unstoppable exuberance began to explain her love for Jesus and how that this was the greatest thing in the world to her. I learned that God can grasp a hold on the smallest child without any help from humans. She didn’t have anyone talking ...

Eagle Outreach Ministries and Kids 2 Camp

“We has such a great time today bringing our Eagle Ministries junior high kids home from camp!  The love and caring they received at camp was outstanding! They made some great bonds with their counselors and some potentially life changing decisions were made.  Continue to pray for them as they return to some difficult home situations.”

Parents appreciate Kids 2 Camp

“Thank you for being such a great example for our son. Through your words and caring, you helped him accept Jesus into his heart.. Our family went back to church on Sunday after five years because of Jake. We just wanted you to know what a difference you and Warm Beach Camp made on one boy’s life and family. We can’t thank you enough! God bless you.”

Testimonial from a summer camper

“Thank you, so much, for giving me the scholarship. This camp helped me get so much closer to Jesus Christ. I had so much fun and I really think you should be proud of yourself.  P.S. I became a true Christian.”

Skagit Valley Ministry through Kids 2 Camp

Lives transformed when camp pastor tells his story

Bo could identify. As a youth, he had come to Warm Beach Camp and had a broken a few rules. As a 13-year-old at W-BAR-B, he had actually punched a fellow camper in the face. Though they provided for the family, Bo's parents partied heavily on the weekends. “One night when I was a child, my dad told my mom and me that he would kill her is she ever left him. She actually believed him, so she took me ...

The Big Book of God – meditations

I am watching all of this delight going on and a woman about my age with special needs came to me and said, “I need the Big Book of God.” I responded, “You need the Big Book of God.” She said, “Yes, let’s go get the Big Book of God.” I was thinking, “I don’t know what she is talking about.” So I said, “Well, I don’t think we should go find it together. You stay here and I’ll go ...

Special Friends 2010

Brittney Lundberg, Special Friends I will never forget the cross carry that we all did [at Special Friends Camp]. Praying over the cross and seeing all of the people who have special needs thank us counselors over and over again brought tears to my eyes. It was so cool to see them have fun in the same way as kids without disabilities. Special Friends Camp has changed everyone in some way.

Lamb’s Gate 2010

Caroline Kulper, WBB #204July 25-31 Where do I begin… there is so much I want to say and so much I can explain about this past week. Cabin 9 was amazing! There was a definite cultural barrier between the Lamb’s Gate girls and the others but as the week went on they began to communicate better and work as a team, it was amazing watching that transformation. While that was incredible that isn’t what I wish to say. These girls ...

A picture of transformed lives

One camper, Keisha, had been arrested 30 times for fighting. As her counselor asked for forgiveness, Keisha thought, “Chrisy’s a mess, and so am I. If God can forgive her, maybe He can do the same for me.” A year later, Keisha gave her life to Christ. Another girl, Faith, who had just tried to fight another girl in her cabin, was shocked by Chrisy’s sudden transformation from meltdown to peace after praying. She told Chrisy and the other counselor, ...

Help a Child Go to Camp This Summer

With summer right around the corner, registrations are now coming in for the summer youth camps. It also means that we are receiving requests for help through the Kids 2 Camp program. Without financial assistance, some of the children and youth who will be coming this summer would be unable to experience their week at camp. A number of these kids come from churches and social service agencies who are working with at-risk youth. For many of these kids, a ...

A Little Piece of Heaven

Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree Program started in 1982 as a Christmastime ministry to the children of prisoners. In 1995, the program expanded to encourage churches to get these same children into summer camping experiences. Warm Beach Camp was being invited to participate, and we responded with a resounding yes, not knowing it would become one of the most profound youth ministry endeavors we had ever undertaken. I'll never forget the first bus full of Angel Tree campers pulling into the ...

No Child Left Behind

For years we have sent our children to Camp, with some parents paying all or part of the costs and the Church providing scholarship funds for those less fortunate. However, over the last several years, the number of families needing assistance has increased greatly. In response, Warm Beach Camp has graciously provided matching funds through their Kids 2 Camp program. This year, we have a greater challenge, and are linking arms with the Camp policy of "no child left behind." ...
