Time to Stop Talking?

Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

Proverbs 10:19 NLT

Have you ever dug a hole with your words?

I have. The hole got bigger and deeper the longer I talked. I should have just kept my mouth shut.

Words are an accelerator. When spoken in a stream of rapid interaction, words often take us to a place we did not intend. Proverbs says we end up sinning.

The counsel given is profound and of few words:

  • Be sensible
  • Keep your mouth shut

Encouragement: Let’s use our words to lift and encourage. Guard against run on speaking in heated moments. If you want to say a hundred things, it might be best to simply keep one’s mouth shut.

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for this proverb. May I listen to You more for guidance in expressing my words in this world. In Jesus name, Amen
