Volunteer Groups Make a Difference!
“It’s difficult to say how long I’ve been volunteering at The Lights of Christmas. It’s been so long I don’t remember,” said volunteer George Colby. After giving it some thought, George figures he has been bringing groups to volunteer at The Lights for more than ten years. This year, he came with three different groups, the Boy Scouts, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and the Camano Chapel youth group. Volunteer groups make up about a third of the total ...

Lives transformed when camp pastor tells his story
Bo could identify. As a youth, he had come to Warm Beach Camp and had a broken a few rules. As a 13-year-old at W-BAR-B, he had actually punched a fellow camper in the face. Though they provided for the family, Bo's parents partied heavily on the weekends. “One night when I was a child, my dad told my mom and me that he would kill her is she ever left him. She actually believed him, so she took me ...

The Big Book of God – meditations
I am watching all of this delight going on and a woman about my age with special needs came to me and said, “I need the Big Book of God.” I responded, “You need the Big Book of God.” She said, “Yes, let’s go get the Big Book of God.” I was thinking, “I don’t know what she is talking about.” So I said, “Well, I don’t think we should go find it together. You stay here and I’ll go ...

Special Friends 2010
Brittney Lundberg, Special Friends I will never forget the cross carry that we all did [at Special Friends Camp]. Praying over the cross and seeing all of the people who have special needs thank us counselors over and over again brought tears to my eyes. It was so cool to see them have fun in the same way as kids without disabilities. Special Friends Camp has changed everyone in some way.

Lamb’s Gate 2010
Caroline Kulper, WBB #204July 25-31 Where do I begin… there is so much I want to say and so much I can explain about this past week. Cabin 9 was amazing! There was a definite cultural barrier between the Lamb’s Gate girls and the others but as the week went on they began to communicate better and work as a team, it was amazing watching that transformation. While that was incredible that isn’t what I wish to say. These girls ...

A picture of transformed lives
One camper, Keisha, had been arrested 30 times for fighting. As her counselor asked for forgiveness, Keisha thought, “Chrisy’s a mess, and so am I. If God can forgive her, maybe He can do the same for me.” A year later, Keisha gave her life to Christ. Another girl, Faith, who had just tried to fight another girl in her cabin, was shocked by Chrisy’s sudden transformation from meltdown to peace after praying. She told Chrisy and the other counselor, ...

All the years since, up to 20 members and their spouses have assembled to help the first Friday of December. And there is a job for everyone, whether they want to work ...
