Preparing Leaders through Horsemanship
Warm Beach Horsemanship fosters a wide array of hopeful young riders each year. The WIT (Wrangler in Training) program is designed to develop horsemanship, schooling, and teaching skills in a ministry-based environment.
Within a WIT’s time at Warm Beach, they sharpen and practice skills in horse handling, schooling horses with specific goals in mind, riding with a strong basic balanced position, and finding connection with the horse. Through the dynamics of a relationship between horse and rider, a greater understanding of their relationship with God is fostered.
In some instances, we are challenged to “listen” to the quiet communication of a horse, which is not dissimilar to the way God can communicate with us when we remember to be still and seek Him. In other instances, we see how the rider’s plan for the horse (both long-term and short-term) is communicated effectively to the horse, depending on how well their relationship has been developed.
This is one of numerous parallels we can draw between horse and rider relationships and an individual’s relationship with God. Instructors and leaders of Warm Beach Horsemanship mentor the WITs in their advancement as an equestrian; their ability to communicate effectively, to lead with confidence, to care for the health and wellbeing of a horse, while learning to seek God within each day. Warm Beach Horsemanship is honored to advance horsemen, mentor leaders, and counsel followers of Christ.
“The bottom line in leadership isn’t how far we advance ourselves, but how far we advance others.” -John C. Maxwell
