The Basic Benefits of Therapeutic Horsemanship

Horses provide a unique opportunity to reflect, moderate, and restore people.

Warm Beach Horsemanship offers therapeutic classes that help people in the following areas:

  • disability/mobility impairment
  • rehabilitation (recovery from surgery, illness, accident)
  • restoration (trauma, emotional, spiritual)

Therapeutic riding and/or vaulting strengthens core muscles in a non-weight bearing environment. The horse’s gait at the walk mimics a human’s gait. It is unimpeded and allows for full range of motion. This unimpeded walking motion supplies a sensory stimulus up the spinal column to the central nervous system. The respiratory, nervous, limbic and internal organs all benefit from this stimulus.

Warm Beach Therapeutic Horsemanship combines the reflective nature of horses with the caring guidance of trained instructors. Time spent with the horse, whether in an Equine Assisted Learning unmounted environment or in a therapeutic riding or vaulting class, provides an opportunity to discover the boundaries of your courage, inner strength, and physical mobility.

Therapeutic Horsemanship is modified for specific disabilities and needs. This is a basic overview of the benefits, but each individual will also experience unique benefits based on their specific exercises.

All of this occurs in an environment of acceptance, care, and empathy that challenges while emphasizing fun as well.

NEXT- He will keep me in His love, and give me grace in this trial to behave as His child. THEN- He will make the trial a blessing, teaching me the lessons He means me to learn, and working in ...

Ride of a Lifetime

“Don’t you want to retire so you can do all the things you’ve ever dreamed about?” It’s a question that I’ve been asked a lot. My answer, “I have gotten to do way more than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams these last 50 years in Christian Camping!” Little did we realize what was ahead when my husband, Stan, was finishing up his last trek of college education. We were lying on a blanket, soaking up the ...

The Barn Changed Me

Before the barn, I felt like I was missing something—like my purpose began and ended with being a mom and a wife. While those roles are sacred, I knew deep down there was more of me waiting to be found. I was searching for myself… learning how to honor my truth, how to listen to my own voice, and how to step into confidence in who I am. Then I found the barn. And slowly, quietly… it began to change ...
