Brevity

Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

Psalms 90:12 NLT

Brevity means, “shortness of time,” and, “concise and exact use of words.” Growing in understanding of both definitions offers help to living every day.

Life is short. Even as one hopes for 90 years, placed in the time frames of human history and eternity, it is at its best short. There is a real opportunity to make each day count. Value the people around you today. Treasure relationships and tend to important tasks.

Spend time with God. Know and grow in Him.

Step back from business, and live at a pace in life that allows for meaningful contribution every day. Take care of yourself. Take care of others. Rest. Work hard. Love deeply. Think carefully.

Focus your words. Take time to think about what is being said in everyday conversation. Be clear. A good friend of mine says, “clear is kind.”  The psalmist wrote: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to You, O God, my strength and my redeemer.”

Our words create. Let’s create good with them. Focus them on the things that matter. Don’t just “spout off.”

Encouragement: Life is short. Think well. Speak good. Value each day. Choose each word for good.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for reminding us of the brevity of life. Thank You for reminding us to be focused with our words. Help us in living each day with value and care. In Your name Jesus, we pray, Amen.

God Speaks through Rosie

I am always excited to get to know a new horse and their personality. However, it didn’t take long to realize this sweet mare harbored a lot of anxiety and worry. I tried to coax her into calmness with gentleness and patience, but she still didn’t fully trust me. When ...
