What’s Unique about Tiny Tots Riding Lessons

“There’s no other place like this.” -Tiny Tot Rider’s Parent

The Warm Beach Horsemanship (WBH) program draws participants from ages 3 to 80! From beginning riders to dedicated competitors, kids interested in the Olympics to home schoolers completing their PE credit, there’s something for most everyone at WBH. One aspect of the program that can be easy to overlook are the young riders who participate in the half-hour lessons for ages 4-5 called Tiny Tots.

A four-year-old rider, new to WBH started this fall after her mom had looked at other barns for a place to start her young daughter on horses. WBH is unique in that we incorporate aspects of faith and personal growth into the lesson program. Several things were appealing about the WBH program to the young single mom. She liked that her daughter would be in an environment that was caring, supportive, and individualized.

Each participant is assigned a horse. She was assigned Teddy and she loved him! It was all she could talk about at home, at the grocery store, with her cousins; she loved sharing everything she was learning during her lessons. She learned how to hold a two-point, jump a course, and gallop in the arena! Keep in mind the Tiny Tot riders are led everywhere they go at a walk with an additional adult walking at their side to ensure safety and balance. With her heart set on being a “horse girl,” WBH allowed 30 minutes every week for her to start building toward that dream. For her mom, it was 30 minutes of joy watching her daughter smile, meet challenges with confidence, and make friends.

“My daughter gets exactly what she needs here, and much more than I could hope for.”

Warm Beach Horsemanship (WBH) is a miraculous venue of connecting people with the best versions of themselves, of exploring the kind of person they want to be and connecting a relationship with a horse to a relationship with God. It is a venue that God has a hand in every week.

Seeing the changes in a four-year-old rider is nothing short of spectacular! Experiencing kids asking questions and being able to articulate to their horses where they want to go is amazing. They develop strength and balance, as well as understanding of how to care for their horse and saddle and expand their imagination through activities in the arena. It’s truly a glimmer of heaven that we hope each of our students takes away every week from their lessons.

God Speaks through Rosie

I have recently been given the opportunity to work with Rosie, one of our newer horses that we are bringing along in training here at the Warm Beach Horsemanship barn. I am always excited to get to know a new horse and their personality. However, it didn’t take long to realize this sweet mare harbored a lot of anxiety and worry. I tried to coax her into calmness with gentleness and patience, but she still didn’t fully trust me. When ...
