Serving Where God Leads

Steve JohnsonsSteve and Jacque Johnson recently joined the volunteer corps at Warm Beach Camp. They have dedicated much of their liives to the service of the Lord and are impassioned by working with youth and overseas missions, among a long list of other things they have done.

But it hasn’t always been like this. Both Steve and Jacque came to know the Lord in their thirties. Prior to salvation both admitted that they were “not the people you see now.” The Spirit of the Lord swept through the Johnson’s lives and were almost instantaneously transformed. “My eyes were opened,” said Steve.

When the Johnsons became Christians, their children were still young. Steve and Jacque believed that they should be involved in whatever their children were doing, so, when the kids went to church activities, they were right there alongside them. As their children grew and became adults themselves, the Johnsons continued to be involved with youth ministry.

Over the years, Steve has also established a car repair ministry, both Steve and Jacque have been called to Christian clowning, and both are involved with Operation Mobilization, that “seeks to help plant and strengthen churches, especially in areas of the world where Christ is least known.”

The Johnson’s children attended Junior High and High School Camps at Warm Beach and the whole family came for Family Camp. As the Johnsons reached their retirement years, they were looking for a ministry to become involved with on a long term basis and Warm Beach Camp “seemed like a natural fit for us.”

In March, the Johnsons pulled into Warm Beach Camp as volunteers for the first time. Since arriving, Steve has spent the majority of his time helping to get the new Chinook Cabins ready for Special Friends Campers. “It’s just been really neat to see how the community has helped these cabins come together,” said Steve. Jacque has been helping to get programming elements produced for Special Friends Day Camp. Now that Special Friends campers have arrived, Jacque also helps with face painting, crafts and other programs. “Special Friends has just blessed my heart,” said Jacque.

Warm Beach Camp is also blessed to have Steve and Jacque as a part of the volunteer family as they continue to bless the body of Christ with the work of their hands.

A Legacy of Prayer

I felt tears in my eyes when I learned that the Warm Beach Pony Club riders circle up and pray together before going into competition rounds. Unbeknownst to the Pony Clubbers and Meg Rudy, Assistant Horsemanship Director, that humble stance of prayer is a continuation of a legacy. For 15+ years, those of us who were part of the Warm Beach Vaulting team would do the same thing before running into a competition round. Praying at the entrance to the ...

A Joyous Gathering

The Horsemanship Volunteer Impact Dinner last month was a joyous gathering. With 70 in attendance, this event celebrated the faithful generosity, hard work, skills, and gifts of those who selflessly give of their time and energy down at the Barn. The night was filled with light-hearted laughter and heartfelt stories, reflecting the spiritual impact the program has on those involved. While the close-knit community connected over dinner, those in attendance learned how truly significant their contributions are. Mary-Grace Wallace, Horsemanship ...
